East and west
East and west belong to quite different ancestry. Their philosophy is different. In east we come to conclude from intellectual discrimination of truth from false that truth is one self and reality is entirely false. Reality is immaterial substance less illusion.
Our ancient stories too are different. Ramayana is search for joy and comfort written by our first poet Valmiki when he found stream let Tamasha turned opaque instantly when he tried to blame the hunter for killing a swan engaged in love making. Valmiki went searching for pure joy that is not result of happenings or opulence or possession. A perfect Superman's life story he wrote.
We had a bigger volume of epic, Mahabharata, that preached the art of discrimination by way of observation ~ Dharma.
I once collected lot of ancient Sufi stories from middle east of Asia. They depict causal world. Life is a collection of events in a time line ~ there is nothing to learn from life. They are quite different from Western Stories in circulation - where there is some moral to assimilate from each story. We have later preachings from old testament and New testament. Subsequently we have christian values.
I am again recycling some from my Recycle blog. Them had lot of viewing in their first incarnation; they are attractive; but no moral as such. Here are the Links:

one of the stories above, we have a poetic description of door to freedom that is never closed. It is perhaps may be called one's sanity. While Krishna is so called gravitation attraction - it is the sanity as such. It is impossible to be without. Even 100% insane has it. One is attached to detachment for ever. Although door to freedom is open though out one's life time we never see it. It is not leaving this or that but detachment from one's entire memory. This door is orthogonal to all external direction pointed by all objects of recollection; there is no door - nothing, the empty space in one's heart.
One is forever blind to its existence although that alone is one's home that was never built but preexisting.
